We are keeping (Lunch & Learns) really similar (to last year)," said Karla Beiler, elementary programs director with The Factory Ministries. Lunch & Learns give Pequea Valley-area children an opportunity to enjoy a free lunch and to take part in group games, STEM activities, crafts, gross motor activities, reading enrichment, and more.

During the summer of 2024, Lunch & Learns will take place in Paradise Park, 6 London Vale Road, Gordonville, on Wednesdays from July 10 to 31, Aug. 7 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Activities are designed for elementary-age students, and children and youths from birth to age 18 are welcome. Parent or caregiver supervision is required for children that attend. Organizers request that families that plan to attend register ahead of time at https://tinyurl.com/pvlunchlearn.

Lunches will include a variety of food items, such as sandwiches, crackers, cheese, meat, vegetables, and snacks. An advocate from The Factory will be on site to talk to families that have a further need for food and connect them with resources such as The Factory Market.

As in the past, Lunch & Learn enrichment activities will include presentations by local guests, including Girvin's Gardeners and the Paradise Fire Company.

The annual Back-to-School Extravaganza will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 6, from noon to 2 p.m. at The Factory Ministries, 3293 Lincoln Highway East, Paradise. "(The Extravaganza) will be different again this year," said Lisa Eckert, director of Early Learning with the Pequea Valley School District. This year's giveaway will feature free school supplies and free haircuts. Families that plan to attend the Extravaganza should visit https://tinyurl.com/btoschool.

Volunteers are needed to help with both the Lunch & Learns and the Back-to-School Extravaganza. Donations of school supplies are requested as well.
