Gretna Music slates concerts

Gretna Music will present the Black Oak Ensemble in concert on Sunday, June 9, at 3 p.m.; the Raleigh Ringers on Monday, June 10, at 7 p.m.; and Timberdale Brass on Sunday, June 16, at 3 p.m. All concerts will take place in the Mt. Gretna Playhouse, 200 Pennsylvania Ave., Mount Gretna.

The Black Oak Ensemble consists of violinist Desiree Ruhstrat and cellist David Cunliffe, who are members of the Grammy-nominated Lincoln Trio, and violist Aurelien Fort Pederzoli, a founding member of the Grammy-nominated Spektral Quartet.

The Raleigh Ringers is an Emmy-nominated, internationally acclaimed concert handbell choir based in Raleigh, N.C. Founded in 1990, the group presents unique interpretations of sacred, secular, and popular music, including rock 'n' roll tunes, along with original compositions written for the Raleigh Ringers.

Members of Timberdale Brass, based in Philadelphia, have played together in brass sections and small ensembles for decades throughout the northeastern U.S., including with the Philadelphia Orchestra, Delaware Symphony, and Philly Pops, as well as with the region's opera, ballet, and chamber orchestras. In the midst of the pandemic, these five musicians gathered to present live music. The group plays standards from the Great American Songbook, jazz music, and tunes from the silver screen.

On June 9 and 16, doors will open at 2 p.m., and there will be First Listen performances at 2:15 p.m. On June 10, doors will open at 6:30 p.m., and there will not be a First Listen performance. The First Listen program features local youths in free mini concerts before the mainstage concerts. Cello Trifecta will perform on June 9, and jazz trio So What! will perform on June 16.
