Library posts schedule

Milanof-Schock Library, 1184 Anderson Ferry Road, Mount Joy, will offer a variety of programming. All programs are free, unless stated otherwise, and require preregistration. For more information and to register, visit http://www.mslibrary.org or call 717-653-1510.

Food trucks will be on-site at the library on select Thursdays this summer beginning May 30. Refer to the aforementioned website and the library's social media accounts for more details.

The annual Maker Fest will be held on Saturday, June 15, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Makers will demonstrate their skills and sell their wares. Weather permitting, makers will be stationed both inside and outside.

The Friends of Milanof-Schock Library will hold their annual used book sale at Donegal High School, 1025 Koser Road, Mount Joy, from Thursday, June 20, through Saturday, June 22.

Gently used books and media can be donated to the self-service shed behind the library on Mondays through Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon.

Programs for children and teens include Family Story Time on Wednesdays, June 5, 12, and 26, at 10:30 a.m.; Teen Chill & Draw with Hanna on Saturday, June 8, at 1 p.m.; Super Science, for children age 4 and up, on Tuesday, June 11, at 10:30 a.m.; Lego Challenge on June 11 at 6 p.m.; So You Want to be a ... on Thursdays, June 13, 20, and 27, at 10:30 a.m.; Fun Fort Friday for families on June 14 from 5 to 6 p.m.; Fun Family Bingo on Tuesday, June 18, at 6 p.m.; Adventures with Baby on Monday, June 24, at 10:30 a.m. for children ages 6 months to 2 years; and Lunch Bunch for children age 8 and up on Tuesday, June 25, at noon.

The Summer Reading Program Kickoff will take place on Saturday, June 1, from 9 a.m. to noon. Attendees may obtain reading logs, sign up for summer programs, and visit activity stations. The Summer Reading Program theme is "Adventure Begins at Your Library," and the program's mascot is a large stuffed owl that was gifted to the library. A contest will be held to name the owl, and children may have their photo taken will the owl.

The Get Outdoors (GO) Lancaster program will also be offered this summer. Participants may visit local parks to find the posts with etchings attached, and prizes will be awarded. Materials are available at the library.

Drum for Fun with Tammi will be held on Thursday, June 6, at 1 p.m. Participants will take an imaginary trip to a West African village.

Jesse Rothacker will present an Ectothermic Animal Adventure on Monday, June 10, at 10:30 a.m. for children age 4 and up. He will showcase ectothermic animals that are buried alone as babies, grow up as orphans, and learn to survive without teachers or parents.

Teen Zine Tuesdays, a virtual program, will be available for youths ages 12 to 19 this summer. Three Pennsylvania authors will offer creative prompts and a real-time look at their writing process via Zoom. Poetry, short stories, and essays by participating teens and the guest authors will be compiled in a SummerZine, which will be added to the collections of libraries throughout the county. In June, participants may work with Jamie Beth Cohen from 4 to 5:30 p.m. on June 11 or June 25.

Mark DeRose will present a show featuring songs, artwork, videos, and more on Monday, June 17, at 10:30 a.m.

Kids age 7 and up may participate in Readers' Theater on June 18 at 10 a.m.

Busy as a Bee! will be held on Wednesday, June 19, at 10:30 a.m. Master Gardeners will share information about pollinators.

The library will host Art in the Park on June 20 at 1:30 p.m. for kids age 7 and up.

Marietta Family Story Time will be held on Friday, June 21, at 10:30 a.m. inside the old First National Bank, 100 W. Market St., Marietta.

Every Saturday at the library will be Super Saturday, featuring a special program at 10 a.m. such as Donuts With Dad, a bubble party, and Working Dogs.

Teen D&D, open to youths ages 12 to 19, will be held on June 22 from 1 to 4 p.m. Interested individuals may contact Jan Betty at jbetty@mslibrary.org.

Story Cubes will be offered on June 25 at 10:30 a.m. for kids age 6 and up. Attendees will roll special dice to create a story told by Miss Jan.

Cartoonist Ed Klein will visit the library on June 27 at 1:30 p.m. Klein will give instruction on the basics of cartooning.

Summer Snorey Time will be held on June 27 at 6 p.m. Kids may wear pajamas and bring a favorite stuffed buddy. A light snack will be offered.

Crafting Digital Writing Workshop for Teens and Adults will be held on Saturday, June 29, at 1 p.m. Faculty members and students from the Millersville University Department of English and World Languages will speak about approaching digital writing as a craft. Attendees may bring a mobile phone or laptop to participate in a walkthrough demonstration.

Activities for adults will include Adult Game Night on June 5 and 19 at 5 p.m.; Joyful Stitchers Cross-Stitch Club, for people of all skill levels, on June 8 from 9:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.; Closely Knit, for knitters and crocheters, on June 10 and 24 at 1 p.m., with no registration necessary; Make-It Monday, for people age 14 and up, on June 17 at 6 p.m.; book bingo on June 19 at 2 p.m.; Easy Writer Club, for writers of all levels, on June 19 at 6:30 p.m., with no registration required; and Lit Lovers Book Discussion Group on June 25 at 6:30 p.m.

Medicare Questions Answered will be presented on June 5 at 1:30 p.m. Local insurance agent Julie Meyers will share how to enroll in Medicare, when to sign up for Parts A and B, how to change one's coverage, and more.

The Friends of the Library will meet on June 10 at 6:30 p.m.

Adults are invited to a screening of the movie "A Dog's Purpose" on June 12 at 1:30 p.m. Free popcorn and tissues will be provided.

Community members are welcome to attend the library's board meeting on June 20 at 6:30 p.m.
