VITA sets record-breaking year

The Life Transforming Ministries Chester County Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program wrapped up another tax season of providing support to the community. It was a record-breaking year for the program, with VITA volunteers preparing and filing more than 2,400 tax returns, resulting in an economic impact of more than $3.7 million in refunds and credits for local taxpayers.

Throughout the season, VITA volunteers offered free tax preparation services to individuals and families, including senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and those with limited English proficiency. The program's goal is to ensure that taxpayers receive every dollar they are entitled to, helping to alleviate financial stress and promote economic stability.

More than 100 volunteers contributed countless hours to make tax season run smoothly. Their efforts were aimed at ensuring that taxpayers were informed, comfortable, and confident in the accuracy of their returns.

VITA volunteers undergo comprehensive training to meet IRS standards so they can handle various tax scenarios. They are committed to maintaining confidentiality and providing top-notch service.

Plans are already underway for next tax season. VITA aims to expand its reach, recruit more volunteers, and continue to provide essential services to those in need. The program is also exploring additional resources and partnerships to enhance the support offered to taxpayers.
