Vietnam Round Table to host guest speaker

The Central Pennsylvania Vietnam Round Table will meet on Thursday, June 13, at 7:30 p.m. at Vietnam Veterans of America, Michael J. Novosel MOH Chapter 542, 8000 Derry St., Harrisburg.

Following a brief business meeting, George Metz from Moon Township, located near Pittsburgh, will discuss his Vietnam experiences as a logistics specialist and door gunner with the 195th Aviation Unit in 1968 and 1969 in II Corps. His unit flew Special Forces troops. Metz graduated as a member of the Class of 1967 from Baldwin High School. He was drafted by the Army.

Following his service, he worked as a cab driver, for a riverboat company and in a Sealtest plant and owned a towing business. In 2007, he and Michael Novosel Jr. founded the Michael Novosel Foundation, named for Medal of Honor recipient CW4 Michael Novosel. Metz enjoys hang gliding, bungee jumping and skiing.

The meeting is open to the public, and donations will be accepted. All those interested in the history of the Vietnam War are invited to attend.
