Fermenting Fruit will be held on Saturday, June 29, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lacto-fermentation is a way to preserve fruit that creates an entirely different flavor. In this hands-on class, attendees will receive a general overview of fermentation and learn the types of fruit that are safe to ferment, materials needed, other ingredients that can be added to change the flavor, and how to use fermented fruits in the kitchen to create sweet and sour combinations that will add flavor to desserts, salads, marinades, sauces, salsas, and chutneys. Step-by-step instruction will be provided, and participants will leave with two types of fermented fruit started.

An Early Summer Foraging Walk will take place on Sunday, July 7, from 10 a.m. to noon. The program is open to people with any level of experience with foraging, including beginners. Attendees will learn how to find and gather wild foods. Topics may include local plant ecology and challenges facing it, alternative uses for plants, and ethical foraging.
