Chiques Church plans carnival

Chiques Church, 4045 Sunnyside Road, Manheim, will host the Chiques Carnival rain or shine on Sunday, June 23, from 3 to 7:30 p.m.

The carnival will include bumper cars, barrel train rides, bounce houses, and face painting, along with yard games and sports, including cornhole, volleyball, and Spikeball.

Beginning at 3:30 p.m., the church will offer contests, including a water balloon toss and wheelbarrow and three-legged races. At 4 p.m., a cake walk will be held, followed by a pie-eating contest at 5 p.m. A baby crawl will take place at 5:30 p.m.

From 4 to 6 p.m., carnival food will be served, including hamburgers, hot dogs, french fries, fried Oreos, cotton candy, and ice cream.

The carnival will conclude with a performance by Christian entertainer Boston Bachert at 6:30 p.m. Bachert's act includes juggling, magic, circus stunts, comedy, and audience participation. He is based in Lebanon, and over the course of eight years, he has given more than 1,000 performances.

The carnival is free of charge. Attendees are advised to bring lawn chairs.
