Program to focus on Battle of Gettysburg

The Hershey Civil War Roundtable will meet on Thursday, July 18, at Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 542, 8000 Derry St., Harrisburg, at 7:30 p.m. The program will also be livestreamed via Zoom and Facebook, and the recording will be posted at http://www.hersheycwrt.org after the meeting.

Bruce E. Mowday will present "Three Views of Gettysburg," combining information from his books "Pickett's Charge: The Untold Story," "J. Howard Wert's Gettysburg," and "Emotional Gettysburg." Mowday will describe why he believed the Pickett's Charge book was necessary. The book led to his work on the largest private collection of artifacts of Gettysburg, which includes the podium used by President Lincoln. Mowday had an opportunity to stand behind the podium as a television network filmed a show on his book. "Emotional Gettysburg" takes a look at the history and legacy of the Battle of Gettysburg. Mowday has an ancestor who was wounded at the wheatfield during the battle.
