Yoder honored at awards ceremony

Katelyn Yoder received two awards from Bridgewater College, Bridgewater, Va., during the annual College Awards ceremony on April 20. The political science major from Manheim was among approximately 50 students recognized.

Yoder received the Daniel W. Bly-Lamar B. Neal History and Political Science Outstanding Senior Award for being an outstanding senior student within the history and political science department. She was also awarded the James O. and Sylvia Kline Bowman Peace and Justice Award for embodying the Kline-Bowman Institute's mission "to promote the building of peace in communities ranging from the local to the global" through significant on- or off-campus service, respectively.

At Bridgewater, Yoder competed on the women's swim team - on which she served as captain for two years - and the moot court team. She was also involved with the Pre-Law Society, the political science honor society Pi Sigma Alpha, the Flory Honors Program, and Civic and Community Engagement Scholars, a group of Bridgewater students promoting voter engagement. Yoder spent three years as a yoga instructor for Bridgewater students, faculty members, and staff members.

Yoder has graduated and works as a case manager for the Central Virginia Alcohol Safety Action Program.
