Restorative Fascial Stretching Yoga
Aug 21
Fascia is a connective tissue that forms a continuous web-like structure inside of us, surrounding and interpenetrating muscles, bones, organs, nerves, and even blood vessels, from the top of our head right down to our toenails. In fact, fascia is what forms our bodies, helps us to stand up straight, and pretty much gives us movement or lack of movement. Stretching the fascia consistently helps to gently release 'knots' in our bodies, allow more flexibility, facilitate good posture, and even help calm the nervous system.
Benefits of Restorative Fascia:
Increased flexibility
Better quality sleep
Increased Range of Motion
Reduced pain
Improved posture
Decreased compression of joints
Improved energy
Class is broken down into 3 parts:
Activate - we will warm up our muscles (which warms up the fascia) by doing some myofascial release techniques along with active stretching of the entire body
Relax and Restore - while on the ground, we will use bolsters and other equipment to relax into 4-5 stretches, holding each stretch for 3 -5 minutes, focusing on breath work, allowing the fascia to relax into a stretch
Reform - we will gently wake up our muscles allowing the fascia to slowly reform to a new restored form.
This class will be held on August 21 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
