Event at pool to feature yoga, aerialist, and more

A "Stretch Out the Summer" event will take place at Mountville Pool, 350 W. Main St., Mountville, on Tuesday, Aug. 20, from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Bumbling Circus Workshop will present the event, and proceeds will benefit SwimAmerica scholarships for local youths.

The event will commence with a vinyasa-style yoga class led by Deb Leschke, a teacher from Unique Physique in York and a pool regular. Katie Stewart, aerialist and owner of The Inversion Co., will give a poolside aerial silks performance and will be available to answer questions. With the help of volunteer celebrity lifeguards, the pool will be open for swimming throughout the event. Video highlight reels will be shown, recapping this season's pool and yoga fun. The snack bar will remain open until 9 p.m., and guests are reminded that smoking, alcohol, and glass containers of any kind are not permitted at the pool. The final activity of the event will be a gentle restorative yoga class led by Albert "Stormy" Storm, a lifeguard and swim teacher at the pool. The event will also include prize giveaways.

This event is a collaborative effort headed up by coach Connor Rugenstein, manager of Mountville Pool, and Storm. Rugenstein, an educator, has been involved at the pool since the age of 14, including swimming, coaching, and working. Storm, a local entrepreneur and retired Army veteran, operates the Bumbling Circus Workshop, through which he teaches yoga and aerial yoga and pursues a variety of artistic endeavors.

The event is free of charge for pool pass holders, with a fee for all others. Donations are welcome.

Funds raised from this event will benefit swim lessons for children from the local area. Vouchers for lessons with SwimAmerica will be made available to principals of local elementary schools to reward children who demonstrate good behavior. An effort will be made to direct these funds to students who might not otherwise be able to afford lessons.
