Club enjoys food, field trip, and more

The members of the Solanco 4-H Community Club took part in a variety of activities in recent months.

The club's monthly meeting in April, held at Solanco High School, focused on food activities. The club broke into two groups, which visited stations where they made energy bites and ice cream in a bag. The decision to focus on food activities was made in memory of Daniel Beiler, a Solanco 4-H Community Club member who loved cooking and food.

The May meeting was a field trip to Gnome Countryside, where attendees walked in the woods to experience nature and learn about trees, other plants, and more. They also played games and made fairy gardens.

The June meeting, held at New Danville Mennonite Church, had a service focus. 4-H members visited stations where they could make cards for people in a nursing home, help make signs for a 4-H bake sale, and design scrapbook pages for a club scrapbook.

A club showcase took place in July, and members brought their completed projects to Chestnut Level Presbyterian Church's Family Life Center. While club leaders judged projects, members enjoyed snacks and games. Every project received a ribbon according to its merit.

In August, the club officers delivered cards and flowers to residents at the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community. Club members had raised the money for the flowers by holding a bake sale at Tractor Supply earlier in the year.
