Annual 24-hour giving campaign posted

The sixth annual Palmyra's Great Give, an online giving day, is set for Thursday, Sept. 19, from midnight to 11:59 p.m. The event unites nonprofits serving Palmyra, Annville, Lebanon, Hershey, and Hummelstown with the goal of building stronger communities through collective generosity.

"We're bringing the community together for a greater cause," said organizer Missy Patrick. "Supporting our local nonprofits directly strengthens the heartbeat of our community."

New this year, organizers will host live events via Facebook throughout the day, highlighting participating nonprofits and sponsors.

Additionally, Texas Roadhouse in Palmyra is partnering with Palmyra's Great Give to host a Dine to Donate event from 3 to 9 p.m. on Sept. 19. When diners show the flyer found on the "Palmyra's Great Give" Facebook page, Texas Roadhouse at 61 N. Londonderry Square, Palmyra, will donate 10% of the customers' food bill to Palmyra's Great Give. A randomly selected nonprofit will win the entire evening's proceeds.

Participating nonprofits include Campbelltown Community Alliance, the Caring Cupboard Inc., the Lebanon Valley Conservancy, Cocoa Kitties, Palmyra Public Library, Phoenix Youth Center, PAWS - Preservation of Animal Welfare & Safety Inc., Pillows of Love, Palmyra Lady Cougars Basketball Boosters, Cougar Foundation - Palmyra Area Education Foundation, Palmyra Elementary PTO, Hershey Community Chorus, Pat's Cubs, Noah's Little Ark Preschool, Palmyra Cougars Ice Hockey Association, Palmyra Youth Lacrosse Association, Palmyra Area High School Musical Boosters, and Palmyra Youth Cheerleading.

Donations will be accepted on Sept. 19 at http://www.palmyra.gives. Match minutes and prize challenges will amplify donations. Pre-giving is open at the aforementioned website.

Since launching in 2019, Palmyra's Great Give has raised more than $200,000 for local nonprofits, with $46,836 raised last year. Initially part of Gravel Hill United Methodist Church's Community Day, the event shifted to an entirely online format during the pandemic but continues to grow each year.

"Our goal is to keep building awareness and engagement. With local businesses like Texas Roadhouse getting involved and the community coming together, we hope to eventually return to hosting a community day in addition to the giving day," said Patrick.
