Rotary Club plans Fall Festival

Lancaster Sunrise Rotary Club will hold its fifth annual Fall Festival on Sunday, Sept. 29, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Aberdeen Acres, 495 Mark Drive, Elizabethtown.

This year the event is not restricted to adults. A Kidz Zone has been added, including bounce houses, a mechanical bull ride, and an inflatable obstacle course. The event will also feature the second annual Bench Mark Games, in which contestants will compete in timed fitness challenges to demonstrate their strength, endurance, and athleticism. The Bench Mark Games will be held from 10 a.m. to noon.

Proceeds from the fundraiser will support the Bench Mark Program's Women's Strength & Fitness Center and fund student scholarships and grants for local nonprofits.

The festival will also feature music by the Uptown Band, dancing, food and drinks for purchase, a live auction, a silent auction of gift baskets and other items, a giveaway drawing, and hatchet throwing. ABC 27's Soni Dimond will be the master of ceremonies.

The live auction will offer nine items: a gaming dinner experience with wine pairing prepared by chef Rafe Hottenstein for 10 guests; a weeklong stay at a home on the Chesapeake Bay in Edgewood, Md.; four tickets for a Penn State game against Ohio State; four tickets for a Penn State game against the University of Maryland; a four-course dinner for two at 1700 Degrees Steakhouse with wine pairing and a one-night stay at the Hilton Harrisburg; growlers with eight fills from local breweries; a Jura E8 fully automatic espresso coffee machine; a farm-to-table dining experience prepared by chef Zach Cramer; and a weeklong stay at a condo in Marriott's Manor Club Sequel in Williamsburg, Va.

To purchase tickets for general admission, the Bench Mark Games, or both events, search for "5th Annual LCM Rotary Fall Festival" at http://www.eventbrite.com. Admission will be discounted for youths ages 5 to 17, and children under 5 will receive free admission. Tickets can be purchased in advance through Eventbrite or at the event. Parking is free. Lancaster County Motors Subaru is the presenting sponsor.

Lancaster Sunrise Rotary Club is active in the Lancaster community and has been supportive of Ukrainian refugees and the building of a school in Honduras. In prior years, the festival raised funds to purchase a $40,000 moving van for Off The Streets Lancaster and a $70,000 hot and cold food transport van for Meals on Wheels of Lancaster. It also helped fund scholarship programs for Manheim Township students and grants to local nonprofits.

Lancaster Sunrise Rotary meets on Thursdays 7:15 to 8:30 a.m. in person at Bent Creek Country Club, 620 Bent Creek Drive, Lititz, and via Zoom video conferencing.
