Organization opens retail shop

Hope Within Ministries has opened a retail shop, the Treasure Trove - also known as the Trove - that repurposes furniture and other items. The Trove will be open to shoppers on Friday, Sept. 20, from 3 to 7 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 21, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Other upcoming hours will be on Fridays, Oct. 25 and Nov. 22, and Saturdays, Oct. 26 and Nov. 23. All proceeds from the Trove will directly support Hope Within Ministries.

Hope Within Ministries provides free primary care at its Community Health Center, located on East Harrisburg Pike in Elizabethtown, for uninsured, low-income residents of Dauphin, Lebanon, and Lancaster counties. Hope Within Dental and Counseling Services are donation-based and income-based, respectively. The Community Health Center is operated by part-time staff members and volunteers, and it is open to those who meet eligibility guidelines.

The idea for the Trove was born out of Hope Within Ministries' pop-up Holiday Shop, a once-a-year retail display that was held at Christmas inside the Community Health Center. In 2024, a building on the same property as the clinic became available for a larger retail display.

The Trove features home decor and gifts. Many of the items are making fresh appearances after being brought out of attics, basements, and closets. In its Creative Corner, the Trove offers items by local artisans, including slate slabs that feature landscapes and passages from Scripture, sea shells with floral designs that can be used as dishes for rings or other small objects, and illustrations and paintings.

The organization is seeking donations of items to sell in the shop. Items can be new or gently used and may include dishes, glassware, vases, and floral decor; vintage and hand-painted items; pottery, sculptures, and glass figurines; home decor items such as mirrors, framed pictures, and wall decor; paintings, drawings, jewelry, and other items produced by local artists; and furniture, including tables, chairs, desks, chests of drawers, and vanities. No upholstered pieces, clothing, or shoes will be accepted. All items will be evaluated by Hope Within staff members and will be used at the discretion of the organization.

Donations may be dropped off by appointment only. To make an appointment, contact Audrie Schaller at audrie.schaller@hopewithin.org or Laurie Reichert at laurie.reichert@hopewithin.org.

Volunteers are needed. For more details, contact Reichert at the aforementioned number.
