Ware Center slates events

The Ware Center, 42 N. Prince St., Lancaster, will host events centered on veterans and voting.

Two programs will take place on Friday, Nov. 1, as part of We the People First Friday. The event is free and open to the public; no tickets are required.

Beginning at 6:30 p.m. in Steinman Hall, local musicians, visual artists, and performance artists will share their visions of why voting is important, what voting means to them, and more, while the League of Women Voters Lancaster County engages attendees with voter education and www.vote411.org resources.

In the Regitz Gallery from 6 to 8 p.m., a reception will celebrate the opening of the exhibit "Veterans' Visions" by local veteran artists. Through the exhibit, the veteran-led nonprofit WriteFace provides a venue through which the voices of veterans and their families may be heard, understood, and appreciated. The exhibit, organized by veterans Scott Hower and Bob Wagner, will be on display until Friday, Nov. 29.

The Ware Center will also be the site of the annual Veterans' Values and Voices event on Veterans Day, Monday, Nov. 11, at 7:30 p.m. The event celebrates and showcases the writings of veterans, their family members, and their caregivers - including songs written by veterans and performed by musicians as part of the Music for EveryVET Program. The event is presented in partnership with Music for Everyone, South Central PaARTners, and WriteFace.

Admission is free, but tickets are required. To reserve tickets, visit https://artsmu.com, call 717-871-7600, or visit the Ware Center or the box office at the Student Memorial Center on the Millersville University campus.
