Leach named Special Teams Player of the Week

Tate Leach of the Bridgewater College (BC) football team has been named the All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Special Teams Player of the Week after a pair of punt returns in a 63-7 win over Averett University on Oct. 12.

Leach returned the first punt of the game for 28 yards to set up the Eagles' first scoring drive on the team's opening series. The junior from Middletown followed that up in the fourth quarter as he fielded a 50-yard punt at the BC 35-yard line and returned the punt for a 65-yard touchdown.

This is Leach's first Player of the Week selection and the Eagles' fourth Special Teams Player of the Week honor of the season. The BC special teams unit ranks fourth nationally in kickoff returns and eighth nationally in punt returns. The score was the Eagles' second special teams touchdown of the game as senior Cedric Drumgoole made an 88-yard house call on a return play in the first quarter.
