Library posts activities

Milanof-Schock Library, 1184 Anderson Ferry Road, Mount Joy, will offer a variety of programming. All programs are free, unless stated otherwise, and require preregistration. For more information and to register, visit http://www.mslibrary.org or call 717-653-1510.

Community members are invited to donate to the library during the ExtraGive on Friday, Nov. 22, between midnight and 11:59 p.m. Visit http://www.extragive.org to donate.

The library will close at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27, and it will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 28.

Gently used books and media can be donated to the self-service shed behind the library on Mondays through Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Programs for children and teens will include Fun Fort Friday for families on Nov. 8 from 5 to 6 p.m.; Teen Chill & Draw with Hanna on Saturday, Nov. 9, at 1 p.m.; Adventures with Baby on Monday, Nov. 11, at 10:30 a.m. for children ages 6 months to 2 years; Super Science on Tuesday, Nov. 12, at 10:30 a.m. for kids age 4 and up; Lego Challenge on Nov. 12 at 6 p.m.; Family Story Time on Wednesdays, Nov. 13 and 20, and Thursdays, Nov. 7, 14, and 21, at 10:30 a.m.; Fun Family Bingo on Tuesday, Nov. 19, at 6 p.m.; and Wee Build Free Build on Monday, Nov. 25, at 10 a.m.

The library will offer a Fall Into Reading Challenge for kids through Saturday, Nov. 23. Kids will receive a free book and free giveaway drawing entries for each challenge they complete. Reading papers are available at the library.

Children may read to Sasha, a therapy dog from Keystone Pet Enhanced Therapy Services (KPETS), on Thursdays between 6 and 8 p.m. Children may sign up for a 15-minute session with Sasha.

Activities have been planned especially for homeschoolers age 7 and up. The programs will include Home School Art Class on Nov. 19 at 10:30 a.m. and Homeschool STEM/History Mystery on Tuesday, Nov. 26, at 10:30 a.m. Also, Homeschool Spanish will be held every Thursday from Nov. 7 through Dec. 19 at 1:30 p.m. except Nov. 28; kids should plan to attend all classes, and they must be able to read.

Marietta Family Story Time will be held at 100 W. Market St., Marietta, inside the old First National Bank, on Friday, Nov. 15, at 10:30 a.m.

Teen D&D, open to youths ages 12 to 19, will be held on Nov. 23 from 1 to 4 p.m. Interested individuals may contact Jan Betty at jbetty@mslibrary.org.

A Thanksgiving Family Story Time will take place on Nov. 27 at 10:30 a.m.

A Charlie Brown-Style Thanksgiving will be held on Saturday, Nov. 30, at 9 a.m. Attendees may eat jelly beans and popcorn while watching "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving" on the big screen.

In celebration of Gnome-vember, the library will offer a scavenger hunt for adults. Small prizes will be awarded.

Activities for adults will include Adult Game Night on Wednesdays, Nov. 6 and 20, at 5 p.m.; Closely Knit, for knitters and crocheters, on Nov. 11 and 25 at 1 p.m., with no registration necessary; Quilt Study on Nov. 13 at 12:30 p.m.; book bingo on Nov. 20 at 2 p.m.; Easy Writer Club, for writers of all levels, on Nov. 20 at 6:30 p.m., with no registration required; Joyful Stitchers Cross-Stitch Club, for people of all skill levels, on Saturday, Nov. 16, from 9:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.; Lit Lovers Book Discussion Group on Nov. 26 at 6:30 p.m.; and Make-It Monday - Light-Up Gnomes, for people age 14 and up, on Nov. 25 at 6 p.m.

During the week of Veterans Day, Nov. 11, the library will have a display in honor of local veterans.

The Friends of the Library will meet on Nov. 11 at 6:30 p.m.

Jigsaw Puzzle Team Showdown will take place on Nov. 16 from 1 to 3 p.m. Teams of up to four people may enter the contest to see whose team can assemble a puzzle the fastest.

The library's board will meet on Nov. 21 at 6:30 p.m. The event is open to the public.
