The Christmas Spirit

“Come on, lets go,” Alex yelled as he grabbed his backpack. He was planning to shop for Christmas presents that evening.

“Coming,” yelled Alex’s best fried Brad.

As they were walking down the sidewalk Alex asked, “Would you be interested in going shopping with me this evening.

“Sure,” replied Brad. “I would love to.

That evening at the mall, Alex saw a pair of Nike shoes for $50. After he paid for them, Brad bought a pair of Tingley boots. “These will be nice for my Dad when he goes fishing,” said Brad.

At the last store, Alex saw a nice jacket, so he decided to buy it. After they had left and they were walking down Main Street, he saw a small boy crying. He was dressed in a tattered shirt and it was 30 °F. “Here, take this jacket, it will keep you warm out here and Merry Christmas,” Alex generously offered.

“Thank you,” the little boy said gratefully.

When they reached their houses and entered, they wrapped their Christmas presents for their parents. They couldn’t wait until Christmas.

On Christmas morning, everyone raced downstairs to tear open their gifts. Alex tore open his present and found an RC boat that could speed up to 35 m.p.h. “Wow, this is cool!” Alex whooped. He knew he was going to enjoy his gift.

Next, Dad opened his gift and it was the Nike shoes. “I know I will like these, thank you Alex, and I know you learned the true Christmas Spirit. It is giving unselfishly and I hope everybody learns it. It is probably one of the most important lessons.”
