The Christmas Miracle

All is very well this time of year. The town of Jollyville was brimming with Christmas cheer! Stores were overflowing with toys. Of course, nobody had enough money to buy even half of it all! As you know, Christmas cheer was brimming in all the houses. All the houses, except one.

At the end of the lane, the house belonged to the Horse family. They are a nice family...during the summer. But, when it comes to Christmas, they are not for it. What they do this time of year is make a very big bonfire and get pinetree twigs to power it. They don’t believe in Christ so maybe that is why they don’t celebrate Christmas.

The family has two sons and one daughter. They all go to a public school. On a normal morning, this is what it would look like. First of all, they would get up and get dressed while their Mother gets breakfast ready.

This normally consists of eggs, toast, OJ and a bagel with cream cheese. Then, she will call the children. They will obey and go inside. After a nourishing breakfast, they’ll grab their backpacks and leave. As soon as they come home, they normally have chores, but if they don’t they just play.

One cold winter day, a family of carolers came to their doorstep.

“What a disgrace!” said Mrs. Horse. “Come now children, go back inside.” “Now!” “What is the meaning of this?”

The Caroler said: “We want to spread Christmas cheer to you and so does all the town.”

“I won’t have it!” said Mrs. Horse, “I just can’t stand to hear the carols in town like “Jingle Bells”, “Up on the Housetop”, and much more.”

The Caroler said, “You know all the songs.”

“Yeah, I know”, said Mrs. Horse, “Now shoo”.

“Well, fine then.” “Tata”, said the Caroler.

“Good shoo.” said Mrs. Horse.

The next morning, they found a box at the door. “I wonder what this is?” said Mr. Horse. He opened the box and inside was a ticket for a Christmas show, the Nutcracker.

“I think I’ll take the family to the show.” said Mr. Horse. And that was that!

Mr. Horse took the family to the Christmas show. At first, Mrs. Horse thought nothing of it, but during the play, Mr. Horse saw eggnog and soon he was licking his lips. Mrs. Horse saw the decor and that made her smile.

The children, well, that’s a different story. The two boys saw toy cars and action figures, but their sister saw baby dolls. The toys made them smile really hard. “That was enjoyable!” said the children.

The Christmas carolers returned to the Horse’s house and gave them a Bible. The Horse family started reading it and reading it and reading it and soon they learned who God was. They started believing in Christ and going to church.

And that’s the story of how the Horse family started celebrating Christmas.
