EYRA posts athletics and more

Eastern York Recreation Authority (EYRA) has posted its upcoming activities. All programs require registration or a ticket. Fees vary by program and residency.

A fall youth soccer program will be available for boys and girls born between 2010 and 2020. New players must supply their birth certificate and a photo at the time of registration. The season will run from August through late October or early November. Skill evaluations for U9 and older will be held in May to determine team placements. Levels U6/U8 will be coed, intramural teams with no evaluations necessary. The soccer complex is located at Barshinger Fields on Accomac Road in Hellam. EYRA's spring fundraiser will be a promotion through BloomBox, a local online garden center that sells perennials, planted containers, shrubs, trees, bagged soil and mulch, herbs, vegetables, hanging baskets, and more. Through Wednesday, May 15, people may visit http://www.getblooming.com and enter the code EYRA15 at checkout; 15% of the purchase will be donated to EYRA. The fundraiser applies to all items on the company's website. BloomBox offers home delivery, and items arrive within three to five days.

Youth Soccer Camps will be held at Barshinger Fields on Tuesday to Friday, June 4 to 7, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. for youths U13 and up as well as on Tuesday to Friday, June 11 to 14, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. for U9 and U10 and from 6:30 to 8 p.m. for U11 and U12. York area recreation directors in partnership with the Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission will offer Take Me Fishing on Thursday, June 6, from 9 a.m. to noon at Pinchot Park's Conewago Day Use Area on Alpine Road in Lewisberry. Attendees may learn basic fishing skills, and no fishing license is required. This free, family-friendly program is suitable for people age 5 and up. York Revolution will host EYRA Night on Saturday, June 8. The gates will open at 5:30 p.m., and the game will start at 6:30 p.m. A fireworks show will take place after the game. Tennis for Kids Inc. will offer a free tennis program for children ages 7 to 15 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from June 11 to July 11.
