TVHS Mini-THON Club to offer Babysitting Night

Building on the success of their Christmas program, members of the Twin Valley High School (TVHS) Mini-THON Club will hold a Valentine's Day Babysitting Night on Friday, Feb. 14, from 5 to 8 p.m. in the TVHS cafeteria. Parents will be able to have a night out while their children take part in games and crafts, watch a movie and enjoy snacks and beverages. A pizza dinner will also be provided.

Ashley Siv, who is the club overall and was selected for the 2024-25 Mini-THON Ambassadors program, said that the attendees enjoyed the previous Babysitting Night held on Dec. 13, 2024. "Our last Babysitting Night was so much fun for the kids; they didn't want to leave," said Ashley. "We provided them with dinner, several games and a Christmas craft and ended the night with a movie. We plan to do the same at our Babysitting Night on Valentine's Day."

She said the program is geared toward elementary-school-age children, but children of all ages are welcome. Supervision is provided by club members and Lance Chappelle, club adviser.

The goal of the Mini-THON Club is to raise funds for Four Diamonds, a nonprofit organization with a mission to conquer childhood cancer. A fee will be charged for the Babysitting Night, which will be donated to the charity.

Parents interested in having their children attend the program are asked to register in advance by completing the Google form that can be found at http://www.facebook.com/twin.valley.313.

The Mini-THON Club holds many fundraisers throughout the year, including a Breakfast with Santa, a craft fair and car washes. The main fundraiser of the student-run club is its Mini-THON. The dance marathon is modeled after the Penn State THON, which raises money for families with children being treated for cancer at Penn State Health Children's Hospital. This school year's event is set for Friday, April 25, from 5 to 11 p.m. This will be TVHS' 10th year participating in the event.

TVHS is located at 4897 N. Twin Valley Road, Elverson. On Babysitting Night, parents are asked to drop off their children by the school's front entrance near the flag pole between 5 and 5:30 p.m. and then pick up their children at 8 p.m.
