Meet the Mayor: Esther Prosser

If you want to know anything about what is going on in the borough of Elverson, just ask Mayor Esther Prosser, who was elected to a four-year term in 2021. Prosser, a graduate of Twin Valley High School, has a true affinity for her hometown, which has the nickname, "The Greatest Square Mile." Prosser, who also sells real estate in the area, recently shared information about what her jobs entail with the Community Courier.

Community Courier: What are some of your job duties as mayor?

Prosser: A mayor's primary responsibility is to keep residents safe. I have resurrected the Elverson Neighborhood Watch Block Captain program and, with all eyes everywhere, we have successfully helped create a safe town. Both (the real estate and mayoral) jobs include connecting with Elverson residents, and that's fun - everything Elverson!

Community Courier: What would people be surprised to learn about your job in real estate?

Prosser: I think many feel it's easy. What could be so hard as putting up a sign, getting pictures taken and showing a home? There are many details and complications that require experience, patience and trust in a God who runs everything so both buyers and sellers come to the settlement table feeling well-served. And what better town to live in than Elverson? People move here and love it. That is satisfying.

Community Courier: What are your favorite parts of both jobs?

Prosser: In real estate, meeting with people and helping them by providing information, answering their questions and working for them. In short, serving people. This is also true for my job as mayor. Connecting with those who live here and doing what I can, so they come to love this town as I do, is a lot of fun.

Community Courier: What do you do in your spare time?

Prosser: I am an active person and love the outdoors. We began an Elverson pickleball group and play weekly. I love to run, so you will see me running the Elverson paths and sidewalks. Tennis is a passion, so when my out-of-town sister is visiting, we will hit the courts. I am an Elverson Fitness Club member and try to make it to weight and cardio classes there. I have recently begun hiking and am enjoying the trails at the French Creek State Park. Last June, I cycled the Erie Canal Trail in New York with four others. It was hot and exhausting but fun! My greatest passion is living for the God who made me. I am a member of the Brick Lane Community Church in Elverson and love worshipping, praying with and connecting with others there.

Community Courier: What do you love about Elverson, and what makes it a great place to live?

Prosser: Elverson is a safe, quiet and friendly small town. Neighbors know each other and many strive to live "loving your neighbor as yourself." This is what makes Elverson the greatest square mile.
