Oh, the fun you will have!

Oh, the whimsy! Oh, the fun!

It's a Seussian adventure for everyone!

Step right up, don't delay!

"Celebrate Seuss" is on its way!

You're invited to explore whimsy and fun throughout the Milanof-Schock Library at "Celebrate Seuss: An Adventure at the Library." The event will be held at the library, 1184 Anderson Ferry Road, Mount Joy, on Friday, Feb. 28. The festivities will run from 5 to 7 p.m. with staggered entry times to allow plenty of room for families to explore all of the program's activities.

"Our friends begin in the program room where they watch a short video and pick up their supplies for the journey," explained Jan Betty, director of children and youth at the library, who is better known as "Miss Jan." "Then they travel throughout the library, traveling from station to station doing the activity at each one and gathering their prize."

People can expect to run into some familiar faces along the way.

"We'll have some visiting Seuss characters such as Fox in Socks and Horton the Elephant," Miss Jan said. "Of course, the Cat in the Hat will be there as will Gertrude McFuzz. Thing 1 and Thing 2 will help visitors start their journey. And there might even be a visit from the Grinch."

The library has been holding the Seuss program for years, and it always draws a large crowd.

"We love our community, and organizing an event like this is a way we can show it," Miss Jan said. "We also love to see families come out and spend time together, doing something fun."

She emphasized that the event would not be possible without support from a group of people.

"There are a whole bunch of volunteers who help make this event even more special," she said. "Volunteers from the library Friends group and the library, Norlanco-Rheems Kiwanis Club, Key Club, Builders Club and some library staff are some of the many hands that help make this event work."

Miss Jan hopes people who have come to "Celebrate Seuss" in the past will return this year, along with new people experiencing the event for the first time.

"This is a very fun event for families to do together," she said, "and a great way to spend a Friday night!"
