P.E.O. International - Chapter BQ of Lancaster is among the local chapters of P.E.O. - which stands for Philanthropic Educational Organization - accepting applications for STAR Scholarships.

The scholarship is available to young women who will enter their senior year of high school in the fall of 2025, and it aims to help young women to attend an accredited postsecondary educational institution in the U.S. or Canada in the next academic year. The competitive scholarship is for women who exhibit excellence in leadership, academics, extracurricular activities, community service and potential for future success. It is a one-time award of $2,500. The award was established in 2009.

Founded in 1869, P.E.O. seeks to bring together women in the United States and Canada who are passionate about helping women advance through education while supporting and motivating them. The organization provides grants, scholarships, awards, and loans, as well as a framework of support and community for all members. P.E.O. also owns and supports Cottey College.
