Lancaster Festival of Voices slated

Music for Everyone will hold the Lancaster Festival of Voices, now in its ninth year, on Saturday and Sunday, April 5 and 6. Presented in partnership with Trinity Lutheran Church and Tellus 360, this annual celebration of choral music seeks to offer a supportive venue for vocalists of all ages, backgrounds, and skill levels. The event highlights the voice as a powerful instrument for personal expression and communal unity.

Community choral workshops will be offered free of charge on April 5 at Tellus 360, 24 E. King St., Lancaster. The hands-on workshops are designed for people all ages and experience levels. The sessions will be "Theater Improv Techniques for Expressive Singing" with Tom Kelley at 10 a.m.; "Vocal Health" with Kristin Sims from Millersville University at 11:15 a.m.; "Creating a One-man Band" with Nick DiSanto at 12:30 p.m.; "Music Therapy for Healing Life's Losses" with Molly Hicks at 1:45 p.m.; and "Sound Healing With Bowls, Tuning Forks, and Humming" with Lana Ryder at 3 p.m.

A choral concert will be held on April 5 at 6:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 31 S. Duke St., Lancaster. The performers will include Grandview A Cappella, LalaLuna, the Linden Hall Singers, the Unitarian Singers, the Pequea Valley Chamber Singers, the Red Rose Chorus, the Liederkranz Chorus, Anything But Quiet, and the MFE Community Chorus, with special guest baritone Loren Geeting.

A community sing-along will be held on April 6 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Tellus 360. No experience is necessary to participate in the informal event.

The Festival of Voices was born in 2013 with the purpose of using the choral arts as a tool to bring people together.
