Community yard sale set in Parkesburg

Parkesburg residents are invited to take part in a spring community yard sale on Saturday, April 26, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. And in addition to setting up at their homes, sale tables for vendors will be available in Minch Park, courtesy of the Parkesburg Action Committee (PAC).

"PAC is adding something exciting to our annual community yard sale," said PAC member Tina O'Connor. "(There has been a yard sale) for 20 years or more. There is one in April and one in September. This is the first time we are making Minch Park available."

Setup for the yard sale will start at 6:30 a.m. Tables under the pavilion in the park will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Residents may also bring thier own tables to the park.

"We are trying something different," O'Connor added. "We have quite a few people who live in apartments (without space to set up a yard sale)."

In addition to the yard sale events, PAC hosts an annual spring cleanup. During this year's event, held on April 12, volunteers picked up trash at Minch Park and surrounding areas.

Volunteers included PAC members; students from area schools; and Parkesburg residents Noralee, Ed and Edie Butler, who spruced up the area around the "Welcome to Parkesburg" sign and added mulch.

PAC's next event will be the Final Friday program scheduled for May 30 at 5 p.m. on the 200 block of Main Street in Parkesburg. Final Friday includes a street fair with vendors, live music, displays by community groups and activities for children. The theme for May's event will be "Honoring Our Military." Vendors that would like to participate should register at https://parkesburg.myshopify.com.
