Historical Society To Host Guest Speaker

The Mount Joy Area Historical Society will host Stephen Shaw as the guest speaker at its monthly meeting, to be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, June 16, at the Cemetery Road Schoolhouse, 120 Fairview St., Mount Joy. His presentation will be "The Court Martial of Paul Revere."

Shaw is a retired teacher, publisher of articles in military history magazines and the author of the book "German & Spanish Military Rings: A Historical Perspective." He is a retired veteran with 25 years of military experience ranging from active duty with the United States Marine Corps and the Pennsylvania National Guard. He retired as a command sergeant major.

Shaw is a member of the Susquehanna Speakers Association and offers 12 other programs on military history and historic individuals, such as David Rittenhouse and Benjamin Franklin. He grew up in Millersville and is a graduate of Millersville University.

Refreshments will be available following the program. The meeting is free and open to the public, and donations will be accepted.

The historical society's building is open every Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. Members of the public may stop by to see the displays of Mount Joy memorabilia.
