Berks Book Bonanza Planned for July 9 to 13

Following a successful mini-sale in September 2024, Berks Book Bonanza will once again open its doors to the public for its regular five-day, gently-used book sale scheduled to run from Wednesday, July 9, through Sunday, July 13. This will be the annual fundraiser's second sale at the County of Berks South Campus location, 400 E. Wyomissing Ave. in Mohnton, but its first five-day operation since 2021.

Sale organizers are optimistic about returning to the regular schedule and look forward to expanding upon last year's success.

Judy Ellsworth, vice president of Berks Book Bonanza, reported that $40,000 in proceeds were generated from last year's event that went directly to two local organizations: the Friends of Berks County Public Libraries and Reading Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW).

A long-standing fundraiser in Berks County, Berks Book Bonanza is one of the largest book sale operations in the local area, offering gently used books, DVDs, CDs, vinyl records, puzzles and other items at low prices for general items. Specialty materials and collectible books are priced as marked.

The 2025 Berks Book Bonanza sale will occur on the following day and times: July 9 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Friday, July 11, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Saturday, July 12, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. A bag sale, where shoppers can fill a bag of books for a suggested donation, will take place on July 13 from noon to 4 p.m. Admission is free, with the exception of the early bird sale on July 9.

A holding area will be available on July 9 only. No carts will be permitted inside the building, but volunteers will be on hand to assist in transporting large orders.

Shoppers should be aware that the sale is cash or check only with no on-site ATMs available. Identification will be required for all check purchases.

The sale entrance will be located behind the building by the covered ramp. Volunteers will restock items throughout the sale.
