Library To Offer Programming for Patrons of All Ages

Miss Jan's Retirement and End-of-Summer-Reading Bash will take place on Saturday, Aug. 16, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The community is invited to the library to celebrate Miss Jan and enjoy some entertainment and activities. Miss Jan will have her last story time at the library at 12:15 p.m.

Other events on Aug. 16 will include music by Nick DiSanto One-Man Band and The String Sisters; balloon creations by Balunguy; face painting and temporary tattoos; yard games and a bubble machine; food trucks, including Spud Muffin and Mountain Mug Coffee; and Maggie Bird and Friend Alan.

The Mount Joy Area Chamber of Commerce chicken barbecue is also being held on Aug. 16. Tickets are available at the library.

The W Donuts truck will be at the library on Thursday, Aug. 7, from 9 to 11 a.m. Spud Muffin and Mountain Mug Coffee will be at the library on Aug. 16 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Two food trucks will be stationed at the library on Thursday, Aug. 21. Extra Rice will be on hand from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by Brotherly Love Scratch Kitchen from 5 to 7 p.m.

Gently used books and media can be donated to the self-service shed behind the library on Mondays through Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Miss Alyssa will get out the giant parachute for fun, interactive play for children ages 3 to 5 on Wednesday, Aug. 6, at 10:30 a.m. Weather permitting, the event will be held outside.

Stan Tucker will be at the library with members of the Donegal High School Marching Band to talk about what it's like to be in the school marching band on Aug. 7 at 10:30 a.m. Members of the color guard will also give a demonstration.

Art in the Park, an outdoor art class, will be offered for youngsters age 7 and over on Aug. 7 at 1:30 p.m. The class will be held weather permitting.

A Bubble Party will be held on Saturday, Aug. 9, at 10 a.m. Attendees will be able to make their own wands out of various objects and dance in the bubbles from the bubble machine.

"Back to School is Cool" will be offered on Thursday, Aug. 14, at 10:30 a.m. Miss Jan will get kids ready for the start of school with stories, songs and a craft.

Programs for children and teens will include Family Story Times, Wednesdays, Aug. 13 and 20, at 10:30 a.m.; Adventures with Baby on Monday, Aug. 11, at 10:30 a.m. for children ages 6 months to 2 years; Fun Family Bingo on Tuesday, Aug. 12, at 6 p.m.; Adventures with Baby, featuring songs and finger-plays for children age 6 months through 2 years, Aug. 11, 10:30 a.m.; Chalk Drawing with Miss Alyssa, Monday, Aug. 18, 10 a.m. to noon; and Teen D&D for youths ages 12 to 19, Saturday, Aug. 23, 1 to 4 p.m.

Activities for adults will include Adult Game Night on Aug. 6 and 20, 5 p.m.; Closely Knit, for knitters and crocheters, on Mondays, Aug. 11 and 25, at 1 p.m., with no registration necessary; Joyful Stitchers Cross-Stitch Club, for people of all skill levels, on Aug. 9 from 9:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.; Make-It Monday - Paint a Concrete Yard Statue on Aug. 18 at 6 p.m.; and Book Discussion Group - Lit Lovers on Tuesday, Aug. 26, at 6:30 p.m., with the topic, "The Heaven & Earth Grocery Store." Adults are invited to a viewing of the award-winning "La La Land" on Aug. 13 at 1:30 p.m. There will be free popcorn, but drinks are not provided.

Movement & Mindfulness with certified yoga instructor Amber Shay will be presented on Aug. 14 at 6 p.m. for people age 7 and over.

Easy Writer Club, for writers of all levels, will meet on Aug. 20 at 6:30 p.m. No registration is required.

Community members are welcome to attend the Friends of the Library meeting on Aug. 11 at 6:30 p.m. and the library's board meeting on Aug. 21 at 6:30 p.m.

The library will be closed on Saturday, Aug. 30, and Monday, Sept. 1.
