Pathways Center Plans Program

In recognition of International Overdose Awareness Day, the Pathways Center for Grief & Loss, a program of Hospice & Community Care, will host "Shining a Light on Overdose Awareness: The Flory Family's Story of Hope and Healing" on Thursday, Aug. 28, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Pathways Center, 4075 Old Harrisburg Pike, Mount Joy.

International Overdose Awareness Day is observed around the world on Aug. 31. It is a day to acknowledge the grief felt by families and friends remembering those who have died from a drug overdose, and it aims to end overdose and reduce the stigma of a drug-related death.

The Pathways event will feature keynote speakers Teddy and Greg Flory, who will share the story of their son Will's decade-long struggle with addiction and his death from an overdose in 2020. The Florys will reflect on how addiction impacted their family, their journey through grief, and the ways they continue to find healing. Their message will aim to offer insight into the realities of addiction and hope for others facing similar challenges.

The event is free to attend, but registration is required. To register, visit http://www.hospicecommunity.org/oad or call the Pathways Center at 717-391-2413.
