Drumore Friends Meetinghouse Sets Open House

The Drumore Friends Meetinghouse, 1495 Susquehannock Drive, Drumore, will host its final summer open house on Saturday, Sept. 13, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The event will feature many print and audio exhibits about local history, as well as a free storytelling performance by amateur historian Elizabeth Dixon at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Dixon is a descendent of numerous Drumore Quaker families, including Jessie Wynona Lamborn Earnhart. Her performance will primarily focus on Earnhart's life and the 1890 diary she wrote at age 22. Earnhart was raised in Drumore, taught at a one-room schoolhouse in Fulton, and spent numerous mid-life years in Oxford until her untimely death at age 47. Her diary is a portrait of local life before electricity, paved roads, and other modern conveniences.
