Ladies Night Out Group To Host Musician and Author

The Ladies Night Out group from Millersville Community Church, 163 W. Frederick St., Millersville, will host Lori Zimmerman on Friday, Nov. 14, at 6:30 p.m.

Lori, the church secretary and administrator, will share her journey of faith through both story and song. Refreshments, including Kazakhstan-inspired snacks, will be available.

Lori grew up in Lancaster County in a large Christian family where faith and music were woven deeply into her life. Gifted with a love for singing and playing instruments, Lori and her first husband, David Potts, shared God's message through music, performing together and writing original songs while serving as missionaries in Kazakhstan. Their mission work was called One Steppe at a Time, symbolizing both their walk of faith and the vast Kazakh plains (the "steppes" of Asia). While serving overseas, David passed away, and Lori returned to the United States as a single mother to their daughter, Amanda.

Through her grief and faith journey, Lori continued to share their story - writing letters, visiting supporting churches, and eventually discovering her own voice as a writer and songwriter. Now remarried to Carl Zimmerman and celebrating the joy of being a grandmother, Lori has written a new book titled "One Steppe at a Time," which shares her story of trust, obedience, and God's faithfulness through life's challenges.

The book, scheduled for release later this fall, includes many of Lori and David's songs and the stories behind them. A guiding verse for Lori and David was Psalm 40:3: "He has put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in Him." Lori prays that "One Steppe at a Time" will inspire others to see God's direction in their own lives and to trust Him.

A sign-up sheet will be available at Ladies Night Out for anyone who would like to receive a purchase link when the book is published.

The event is free of charge. Reservations are requested by emailing the church office at office@gracemillersville.org or calling Lori at 717-872-4571.
