Tree Lighting Will Bring Holiday Magic

Who says the Grinch's heart is two sizes too small? When he joins Santa in downtown Elizabethtown for A Very Grinchy Christmas Tree Lighting, you'll see that even the green guy can spread plenty of Christmas cheer.

The event will take place on Thursday, Nov. 20, from 4 to 8 p.m. in downtown Elizabethtown.

The celebration promises small-town magic and Whoville-size joy for people of all ages, said Clint Gibble of LIV-ETown.

"There will be free trolley rides of downtown provided by Stone Gables Estate, a coloring contest hosted by Mars Wrigley, free cookie decorating by the Free Masons of Abraham C. Treichler Lodge 682, free cookie stations around the downtown, carolers (and) live entertainment on the LIV-ETown and Discover Elizabethtown Entertainment Stage provided by Ross Productions," Clint said. The entertainment will include music from local choirs, as well as performances by dancers and other musicians who will bring the spirit of the season to life, he said.

People will have the opportunity to meet Santa and the Grinch; visit a mini selfie museum; take in the holiday decorations; and enjoy food trucks, a live Nativity and a scavenger hunt through downtown shops. The festivities will wrap up with the lighting of the Elizabethtown Christmas tree by Santa and the Grinch. Clint added that a few other surprises are in store and that downtown businesses will have specials that evening.

Along with Clint, Tony Gibble and Cindy Telenko are organizing the event, which is hosted by the Elizabethtown Area Chamber of Commerce, Discover Elizabethtown and LIV-ETown.

"Bring your family and friends to downtown Elizabethtown for an evening full of festive fun, sweet treats and plenty of Whoville cheer!" said Telenko.

The celebration is the perfect way to kick off the holiday season, said Tony.

"This has become a beloved and cherished event for the young and young at heart," he shared. "It evokes the very best in small-town charm with the wonder of a Hallmark Christmas gathering of the community. The downtown will be decked to the nines for the holiday season, and smiles and laughter will be seen everywhere you go!"
