Hempfield Church Posts Activities

Hempfield Church, 3050 Marietta Ave., Lancaster,  has scheduled several activities, including a Quiet Christmas service, the staging of "A Christmas Carol" and a special worship service.

The Quiet Christmas service, which aims to help those who are grieving or struggling with loss, will take place on Sunday, Nov. 30, at 5 p.m. Quiet Christmas is a gentle, contemplative worship experience designed to provide comfort, peace and space for reflection amid the busyness of the season. The service includes music, candle lighting, communion and scripture readings. Preregistered child care will be available for children age 5 and under. Servant Stage's original adaptation of "A Christmas Carol" will be presented on Tuesday, Dec. 9, at 1:15 p.m. in the church sanctuary. The Charles Dickens' holiday classic captures the timeless tale of redemption, charity and transformation as Ebenezer Scrooge journeys through Christmas Past, Present and Future. The performance will include storytelling and festive music and is open to audience members of all ages. On Saturday, Dec. 13, at 1 p.m., Hempfield Church invites the community to a special worship service titled "A Future with Hope: A Service of Encouragement." The service is inspired by Jeremiah 29:11 - " 'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'"

In this time of transition within the United Methodist Church, the service offers an opportunity to gather in unity through worship, scripture and reflection.
