The Sights, Tastes, and Sounds of Christmas

BTFC Plans Annual Craft Show

The Bart Township Fire Company (BTFC) Craft Show was originally a bazaar. "We have changed it in recent years," said Susan Fromm, one of the organizers of the annual event. "This is our 47th year."

"The theme this year is candy canes and candy," said Fromm. "We have a room decorated with a candy cane theme." This year's craft show will also include Christmas music, a visit from Mr. and Mrs. Claus, gifts for children, and the food Fromm stated the event is known for.

The 2025 BTFC Craft Show will be held over two days this year, with festivities beginning on Friday, Dec. 5, at 6 p.m. and running until 9 p.m. On Saturday, Dec. 6, the craft fair will open at 9 a.m., with Santa and Mrs. Claus arriving at 10 a.m. on a fire truck driven by BTFC's own Elf. The Clauses will sit for free photos with children until 2 p.m. "Kids will get a gift from the gift table, and the Elf will help pass those out," explained Fromm. Other activities will include a scavenger hunt with prizes, along with drawings for prizes donated by participating crafters and local residents at the end of the show.

On the evening of Dec. 5, live Christmas music will be provided by Pam Herr on piano accompanied by a friend on guitar.

Of course, the focus is on crafts, and Fromm pointed out that all crafts offered at the show will be handmade. "We have pottery, jewelry, and laser-cut woodcrafts," noted Fromm. "We have a gentleman who brings homemade wooden toys and an (artist) who paints on leaves." Fromm also listed makers of wreaths, centerpieces, and sewn items among the crafters, and she mentioned Christmas ornaments, ceramic Christmas trees, live floral centerpieces, soaps, and hunting knives that will be offered for purchase. "A big hit is homemade fruitcakes," reported Fromm of goods offered by a popular returning vendor.

Food available for purchase at the event will include hot and cold sandwiches, beverages, and desserts. At past craft fairs, organizers have served french fries and shrimp. Breakfast items will be available on the morning of Dec. 6.

"There will be free tote bags for the first 50 people to arrive on Friday night and Saturday morning," shared Fromm.

Funds raised by the BTFC Craft Show will be given to the fire company's general fund. Fromm stated that organizers hope to net $5,000 from the fundraiser.
