LancasterHistory Plans Holiday Events

LancasterHistory, 230 N. President Ave., Lancaster, will host Yuletide at Wheatland through Tuesday, Dec. 30. Guided tours of President James Buchanan's historic home will be available on Mondays through Saturdays on the hour, with the first tour at 10 a.m. and the last tour at 3 p.m. There will be no tours on Sundays; Thanksgiving, Thursday, Nov. 28; Christmas Eve, Wednesday, Dec. 24; and Christmas Day, Thursday, Dec. 25.

Attendees may explore Christmas as it was celebrated in the late 1800s by President James Buchanan and his family, including holiday traditions such as Christmas dinner, Christmas carols and parlor games, and gift giving. Tours will traverse both floors of the presidential mansion, with each room covering a different holiday-related topic.

Each ticket will include a guided tour of Yuletide at Wheatland and admission to the self-guided museum exhibitions in LancasterHistory's main building. Advance reservations are recommended.For more information about Yuletide at Wheatland, visit http://www.lancasterhistory.org/yuletide/.LancasterHistory will also hold Campus of History Cheer on Saturday, Dec. 6, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with a variety of activities for people of all ages.A children's program, "Candy Canes & Cocoa on the Campus of History," will take place from 10 to 11 a.m. Self-paced Yuletide at Wheatland tours will be available from 12:30 to 4 p.m., and a Holiday Greens & Bake Sale, benefiting the Tanger Arboretum, will be held from noon to 3 p.m. The event will also feature a prize wheel and special discounts in the museum store, multiple drop-in crafting opportunities, and hot cocoa available all day while supplies last.
