The Christmas Story

By Lillian Pittman

Kara was milking the cow Bess. Mom called Kara, “Come in Kara.”

“OK,” said Kara.

“Sorry Bess, I’ll have to finish tomorrow.” “Moo,” said Bess.

“Bye Bess.” Kara ran to the house. Kara said, “Yes, mom.”

“Come here in the livingroom,” said mom. “Yes mom,” Kara replied.

Mom said, “Sit down. We’re going to read a story.

Kara sat down. “It is called the Christmas story. “I’m going to start the story.”

“OK mom,” said Kara.

Mom started to tell the story. “Mary was sleeping and an angel was in her dream. He said “Do not be afraid. My name is Gabriel. You will have a baby named Jesus.”

Then Mary said to him, “But I’m not married yet. I am just dating Joseph.”

The Lord said to go to Bethlehem with Joseph so Mary went and got Joseph and told him what had happened. Then they went to Bethlehem and behold Mary was pregnant and she was going to have a baby soon. When they got to Bethlehem there was no spot to sleep or rest. There was only a stable so they went to the stable. Then Mary had a baby boy that night and wrapped him in cloth and laid him in a manger. Also that night there were shepherds and all of a sudden a bright light appeared and an angel said, “There has been a savior born in Bethlehem. Follow the star.” So they went with gifts and later they gave Jesus their gifts.”

“Was that a true story,” I asked mom? “Yes,” said mom.

“That was a great story mom. Thanks for telling me that story.” “You’re welcome,” said mom.

“Good night.” “Good night Kara.”
