The Night Before Christmas
By Micah Fisher
Once upon a time, on Christmas Eve, there was a boy named Jacob. He had no toys or siblings, so all day he sat on the couch and slept. Jacob was very sad because all the boys and girls had lots of toys to play with, and he always wished to have toys. Every Christmas Eve he begged his parents to get him some toys, but every time they would say, “Sorry, we don’t have any money to get those fancy toys.” Then he had an idea, he said, “Santa could give me toys.” So every Christmas Eve, he would wish Santa would come, but he never came. Then one Christmas Eve night, he decided he would go downstairs and investigate. This time he went downstairs and heard a shuffling noise so he hid in the closet. Then he saw Santa! He had finally come! Santa looked around desperate to find a place to put the presents, so he put them in the corner. Just as he was about to leave, Jacob jumped out of the closet and ran to Santa. Santa was shocked, but when Jacob got to Santa he asked him, “Did you get me those fancy toys?” Santa just stood there and smiled. “You’ll have to wait till tomorrow,” he said. I was just about to complain when I remembered I always had to wait. So Jacob decided to wait till tomorrow. In the morning, he rushed downstairs to check out his presents. He found some monster trucks, race cars, and a race track. He said “Thank you” in his mind and started playing with the toys. He took care of his toys and next year he got new presents from Santa. Jacob never asked for toys from his parents again.
