Mental Health Ministry Sets Workshop

The Columbia Catholic Mental Health Ministry will host its monthly workshop on Wednesday, Dec. 17, at 7 p.m. in the social hall at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, 121 S. Second St., Columbia. The topic of the workshop will be "Trauma Informed Care."

The speaker will be Garret Book, patient experience coordinator at Lancaster Behavioral Health Hospital. He will discuss how to recognize signs of trauma in others and what people should do when they see these signs, as well as how to develop trauma resilience and provide opportunities for healing.

Book is a 2015 graduate of Lancaster Theological Seminary, where he earned a Master of Divinity. He completed a chaplaincy internship and residency at Penn State Hershey Medical Center & Children's Hospital and has worked as a staff chaplain for Lancaster General Hospital, Lancaster Rehabilitation Hospital, and Lancaster Behavioral Health Hospital. Book is a Certified Trauma Professional through PESI.
