Friends Group Supports Police Department

The Friends of the West Lampeter Township Police Department (WLTPD) recently reimbursed West Lampeter Township for the cost of a two-year package including the use, repair, and replacement of four Flock Safety recognition cameras. The package includes installation, maintenance, upgrades, and software support.

The solar-powered cameras do not collect personal information or use facial recognition. Using collected data such as make, model, color, and direction, they can provide real-time alerts and searchable vehicle information even without license plate data. All captured images and data are uploaded to Flock Safety's secure cloud storage. By tapping into local and national law enforcement shared databases, the department can detect vehicles linked to crimes and help to uncover leads that help solve and reduce crime. The cameras are designed to be non-intrusive, efficient, and intelligent, with the intent for them to be a valuable tool for public safety and crime prevention.
