Handbell ensemble to perform at church

The Hershey Handbell Ensemble will present a concert at St. Luke's United Church of Christ, 222 N. Broad St., Lititz, on Saturday, April 26, at 7 p.m.

Formed in 2004, the 15-member ensemble is based in Hershey and performs under the direction of Shawn Gingrich.

It was started to provide an auditioned community ensemble made up of persons able to play advanced literature and interested in advancing the art of handbell ringing through education and performance while uniting people through the musical arts. Ringers representing seven southcentral Pennsylvania counties perform on seven and a half octaves of Malmark handbells, along with Petit & Fritsen handbells, Silver Melody Bells, handchimes, and other instruments. In 2015, the ensemble performed at the White House.

The ensemble will offer its CDs for purchase at the concert.

There is no admission charge, but a freewill offering will be received.
