Bingo Will Raise Funds for Penn Manor Cheer Program

Gimme a B. Gimme an I. Gimme an N. Gimme a G. Gimme an O. What's that spell? Bingo.

The fourth annual Penn Manor Cheer Bingo Extravaganza will be held Saturday, Jan. 24, at Penn Manor High School, 100 E. Cottage Ave., Millersville.

Doors will open at noon; bingo will begin at 2 p.m. Tickets are available in advance and may also be purchased at the door. Email pmhscheerbingo@gmail.com or text 717-330-2939 for information about purchasing tickets.

The prizes will include designer purses by designers Michael Kors, Kate Spade, and Coach, along with tools such as drills, saws, and lights. There will also be four special games for an additional fee, with the big reward a Blackstone grill.

Hot dogs, baked goods, soup, sandwiches, chips, and beverages will be for sale.

The activity is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the Penn Manor cheerleading program, booster club president Jen Breidenstein said. "It's a day to have fun," she said. "Drop by and support a local team."

Penn Manor Cheer will also accept donations for Loft Community Partnership. Each participant for bingo who brings a donation such as trash bags, dish soap, paper towels, toilet paper, tissues, and laundry detergent will get a ticket and be entered to win a prize, with a limit of 10 tickets. "It's our little way of giving back to our community," said Breidenstein.

Proceeds from bingo will be used to support the cheer squad and pay for uniforms, mats, flags, and banners, as well as team bonding activities like pool parties. "(The team members get together) not only at football and basketball games but also for activities that help them be a team unit," Breidenstein said.

The cheer program has a total of 50 members in seventh through 12th grades. The booster club organizes the bingo event, and the girls volunteer to help it run smoothly.

Penn Manor Cheer roots on Comet athletes in football, boys' and girls' basketball, boys' and girls' soccer, and boys' and girls' wrestling.
