Re-Imagining Kensington: A Lancacster Native and Philly Youth Making a Differnece

Feb 13

Drug use and trafficking are evident all along Kensington Avenue in Philadelphia. Most of us have seen the disturbing YouTube videos from under the Frankford Metro line.

See and hear how paying urban kids to cultivate gardens and create murals is making a difference in a tough neighborhood.

Jeremy Chen is a graduate of Veritas Academy, Princeton University, and Missio Seminary. He will introduce us to some of the young staff and teenagers involved with shaping Kensignton's future...and their own lives.

He and his wife Amy moved into Kensington in 2014. She is a dentist at Esparanza Health Center, and Jeremy is Founder and Director of Klean Kensington, an organization dedicated to "empower students through mentorship, workshops, and holistic development."

Their dream is that all empty lots in Kensington will become activated community gardens.
