Rotary Club Honors Students of the Month

The Twin Valley Rotary Club has selected Twin Valley High School (TVHS) students Hailey Kilgore and Luke Elliker as its Students of the Month for January.

Each month during the school year, the Twin Valley Rotary Club honors two students of the month from TVHS. The seniors are selected by guidance counselors, teachers and staff members at the school.

Hailey is a multi-sport athlete who has been involved in athletics from a young age, beginning basketball at just 8 years old. She started playing AAU basketball in seventh grade and remained committed to the sport throughout her high school career.

Her dedication has been recognized through numerous accomplishments, including All-Division honors during her freshman and sophomore seasons, All-County recognition her junior year and reaching the milestone of scoring her 1,000th career point during her senior season.

In addition to basketball, track and field has played a major role in Hailey's life. Although influenced early on by her father's collegiate coaching career, she did not begin competing until ninth grade. Specializing in sprints and hurdles, Hailey has earned multiple All-Division awards in events such as the 100-meter hurdles, 300-meter hurdles and the 4x400 relay, while also contributing to several school records.

Hailey has maintained a 4.269 cumulative GPA and ranks 15th in her graduating class. She is also a member of the National Honor Society and Varsity Club.

She plans to attend Shippensburg University to major in early childhood education, noting that she was inspired by an internship and her mother's achievements as a 2024 Pennsylvania Teacher of the Year finalist.

Luke has taken Advanced Placement (AP) and Honors courses wherever possible. His coursework includes AP United States History, AP Psychology, AP Biology, AP English Literature, AP Statistics, AP United States Government and Politics, as well as engineering design and development. He has attained a GPA of 4.623 so far and ranked fifth in his class as of the end of last year.

Luke has been a three-year varsity athlete in both cross-country and track. He runs cross-country in the fall and participates in track during both the winter and spring seasons. During his senior year, Luke was selected as a team captain for the cross-country team.

Luke has been a member of the National Honor Society since the end of his sophomore year, where he has contributed through service and tutoring opportunities. He has also been involved in History Club for two years.

Luke plans to attend college and is currently exploring majors in computer science, engineering and business. He is leaning towards attending the University of Maryland for computer science.
