Square Halo Conference Planned

Square Halo Books at The Trust Performing Arts Center, 37 N. Market St., Lancaster, will present its seventh annual conference focusing on creativity, collaboration, and community on Friday and Saturday, March 6 and 7.

The conference keynote speaker will be Curt Thompson, author of "The Soul of Desire" and a contributor to the Square Halo book "Ordinary Saints." Other featured speakers and breakout session leaders include music producer Roy Salmond; printmaker Steve Prince; singer-songwriter Matthew Clark; music therapist Elisa Chodan; Corey Frey, co-founder of The Well Collaborative; Byron Borger from Hearts & Minds Bookstore; and Tom Becker from The Row House.

Representing Lancaster Bible College (LBC) as a breakout session leader will be Geoffrey Reiter, associate chair of the Arts & Sciences Department and coordinator of literature, presenting on "Weird Fellowship: Lewis and Lovecraft on Creative Community." Additionally, Matt Wheeler, singer-songwriter and LBC's assistant registrar, will be part of a session titled "The Listening Room," where three musicians will take turns performing songs they have written, as well as discussing what "making music to the glory of God" looks like in their practice.

Singer-songwriter Jon Guerra will present the closing concert at 7:30 p.m. on March 7 as part of his "Invisible Things Tour." From Austin, Texas, Guerra writes devotional music, and his debut album, "Little Songs," was released in 2015. He has also composed music for Terrence Malick's 2019 film, "A Hidden Life." His first devotional album was "Keeper of Days," followed by "Ordinary Ways" in 2023 and "American Gospel" in 2024.

As in years past, Horst Arts will offer hands-on activities. Two live podcasts are also planned for the conference: "The Habit" with Jonathan Rogers and "Square Halo" with Carey Bustard. Additionally, a theatrical experience and art exhibit will center around the new book "Among the Lilies: The Song of Songs Annotated & Illustrated," and Lancaster's Nooks Gallery & Bookshop will host Leslie Anne Bustard's "The Goodness Poetry Reading."

Registration and the Square Halo bookstore will open at 8 a.m. on March 6, with the first session beginning at 9:15 a.m. For more information about the event, including lodging and how to order tickets, visit http://www.squarehalo.org/conference.
