Conference Will Address Cultural Challenges to Faith

Our country was founded on a Judeo-Christian worldview," said Dan Blank, pastor of Reich's Evangelical Congregational (E.C.) Church in Marietta. "In these times in which we live, it is very important for Christians to know not only what we believe, but why we believe it. We need to understand our times and how we arrived at this point and what we as Christians can do to engage our culture today for Jesus Christ."

With that in mind, the church will host a live Christian worldview conference called "Understanding Our Times and Biblical Path Forward," featuring Del Tackett. Tackett is the producer and teacher of "The Truth Project," produced in partnership with Focus on the Family; the producer and teacher of "The Engagement Project;" and the producer of the movie "Is Genesis History?" The conference will be held on Saturday, April 11, at Reich's E.C. Church, 338 Stackstown Road, Marietta. It will run from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

"We all know that our culture ... needs Jesus," Blank shared. "How do we as Christians engage our culture today, that embraces and advances a worldview that is so much against what we believe? That is what Dr. Tackett is going to be addressing."

For the first two sessions of the program, Tackett will explain, from a biblical worldview standpoint, reasons for the changes in our culture. The third session will draw from "The Engagement Project," explaining what God is calling us to do as we answer the challenges society is facing.

The idea for the conference came about as members of Reich's E.C. Church were exploring Tackett's Truth Project and Engagement Project studies and found they were encouraged and inspired by what they learned.

When Blank discovered that Tackett's ministry sought churches willing to host a live conference, especially in locations it had not been before, he saw an opportunity to bring Tackett to Pennsylvania.

"We want to have an event like this so that we as believers can be equipped to and challenged to engage our world for Christ and so that we can learn how to defend and stand firm on the truth of God's Word in our world today," Blank explained. "We wanted to make this available to believers and churches in our area so that we all can learn how to better engage our culture and community for Christ."

He said the timing of the program is especially relevant.

"On this our country's 250th year, we want to rediscover our heritage and the foundation on which we were built," he remarked. "This conference will aid in that endeavor."

People who attend the conference can expect to receive engaging teaching from Tackett, Blank said.

"Dr. Tackett will show us from the Scripture what we are seeing play out in our culture today," he shared. "You will gain a deeper understanding of the primary battlegrounds in our culture from the family, to the church, work and government. Dr. Tackett will then lead us to gaze on upon the crown jewel of the nature of God, and we will be challenged to fulfill His real vision for His Church."

He noted that Tackett is renowned for explaining biblical and historical truth in a dynamic and impactful manner, but in a way that everyone can understand.

"I would encourage you to attend because you will learn a lot and be challenged and encouraged in your faith," he said, adding that Tackett uses state-of-the-art technology to engage audiences. "You will leave being challenged, refreshed, equipped and encouraged to share your faith with others more effectively and naturally."

Blank emphasized that early registration for the conference is encouraged, because registration is limited to the first 125 couples or individuals who register. Day-of registration will be available as space allows.
