The Mount Joy Lions Swim Team has opened registration for another summer of competitive swimming and has announced Layne Sherk as the team's new head coach.

The team is open to swimmers from the Donegal and Elizabethtown communities and surrounding areas. The team seeks to provide opportunities for young athletes to build confidence in the water while cultivating teamwork, individual growth, sportsmanship, and lasting friendships.

The team has been a member of the Lancaster Summer Swim League for more than 30 years. The swim team season runs from mid-May through the end of July. The regular season consists of seven dual meets held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and a few optional invitational swim meets. The regular season concludes with a divisional championship meet, and then all Lancaster Summer Swim League teams gather for the league championship meet.

Swimmers must be able to swim 25 yards without assistance before joining the team.
