Golf Tournament to Benefit Nonprofits

The Big Swing for Sight, Science, and Education will be held on Monday, May 18, at 9 a.m. at Iron Valley Golf Club, 201 Iron Valley Drive, Lebanon. Proceeds will benefit VisionCorps, the Lancaster Science Factory, and the Joshua Montpetit Foundation.

The golf tournament was established by Lisa Shirk, a VisionCorps trustee, in memory of her husband and longtime VisionCorps supporter, Ray Shirk. Ray was a businessman, entrepreneur, and visionary. He was the founder and CEO of the Securus Group, a multifaceted insurance firm that twice earned the honor of Best Places to Work in PA. Lisa started the Big Swing in 2013 to honor Ray's love of golf and the local organizations he cared about.

In addition to participating as a golfer, people may also donate goods and services for the silent auction.
