Mr. Happy’s Wintery Christmas Season

By Addie Lewis

Finally, it’s the Christmas season! Which is the best season ever, in my opinion! I love to see the children play outside and build snowmen. I remember the day when they first built me… It was a breezy, snowy Saturday. First, they rolled up my bottom which was way too big! Why’d they have to make it so big?! Then they shoved my middle on my butt and I almost got smushed into the ground! Then they put on my tiny head. Why is my head so tiny? I’m REALLY smart, you know! Finally, they smushed a carrot in my head and said “There is your nose, Mr. Happy. Now we need to add eyes, arms, and the mouth.” They go off to get rocks and sticks. Oh no! Here they come! Owwww! Why do they have to do it so hard?! I have a splitting headache. Literally, my head is cracked in two! They say they’re trying to get it back together, but I think they’re trying to kill me at this point. They run inside and come out with three Band-Aids and try to fix me!  I finally have a sort-of-normal head! The children go inside for dinner and then go to bed for the night. Now I can finally go to sleep!

During the next few weeks the sun starts shining brighter and I start to get warmer and wetter! It is the middle of December!  As it gets warmer, I start to feel really weird. I start to feel… weak. The children give me a hug and start to cry, “Mr. Happy is dying!” I wish I could tell them that I’ll be back another time! Oh no! My body is gone!! Until next time!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
